Catchin’ Flights, Not Feels

travel

I love a good holiday as much as the next girl. That feeling when you step off a plane and get assaulted by the heat (something we don’t know the meaning of in the UK) is up there with one of my faves. I personally didn’t take a gap year – after Sixth Form, travelling didn’t really appeal to me; I couldn’t see myself doing the typical backpacking round Asia at all. But, over the past two years, I’m pretty sure I’ve caught the travel bug because now, I want to visit everywhere. It’s got to that point in the year where I’m so ready for a holiday so I’ve compiled a list of the places I’d looooove to travel to the most.

New York

This one could be classed as slightly cheating as I’ve actually already been to New York twice. BUT it is my favourite place in the world and I would go back pronto if I was given the chance. Anyone who knows me knows I am a city girl at heart, feeling completely at home in London. NYC is basically London on steroids so, naturally, I was always going to fall in love with it. I love the food, the shopping, the buildings, the people – the general vibes of being in New York really appeal to me and I could definitely see myself living there in the future. It holds a cute little spot in my heart.

Los Angeles

If I could get on a plane right this second and go anywhere in the entire world, it would be LA. Not just because I want my Miley moment hoppin’ off the plane at LAX (I mean, I do but that’s besides the point), but because I feel like I would love it there. I want to do all the typical tourist-y things: shopping on Rodeo Drive (I’m an actual Julia Roberts wannabe), visiting the Hollywood sign and the Walk of Fame before potentially (definitely) tracking down Zac Efron’s house. I just need to purchase some horrendously oversized sunnies and I’ll be good to go.

Budapest

My brother visited Budapest around two years ago now and honestly, he still hasn’t shut up about how fab it was. It’s one of those places I would love to go for a relaxing long weekend, sitting in the sun drinking pretty lil cocktails. It’s supposed to be a really pretty little quaint place which I love the sound of. I’m hoping one of my friends and I may sneak in a short visit at some point this year (wishful thinking)…

Reykjavik

A slightly different end of the spectrum here but I would loooove to go to Reykjavik. I’ve wanted to visit Iceland for a good while now as I just think it’s so bloody pretty – I mean, look at the little houses!! One of my fave things to do on holiday is to go for walks and explore the surrounding areas to where I’m staying, hopefully discovering somewhere cute to eat along the way and I feel like this would be easily done in Iceland. I’d also love to go to the Blue Lagoon – it looks amaaaazing and is deffo on my bucket list.

Florence

ItalyFlorence

I think my love of pasta has led my heart to Italy. I’ve been to Rome before which was lovely and a fun little cultural experience but because of this, was slightly tourist-y. I’d love to visit a less tourist-filled place in Italy and Florence has most definitely taken my fancy. I can see myself sat in a cute little cafe, drinking freshly-squeezed OJ and eating a generous portion of tiramisu without a care in the world. I’d also love to go to a vineyard because your gal loves herself a good glass of wine.

So those are some of the places I’m hoping to travel to over the next few years. Have you been to any of them? What would be on your list?

Lots of love,

What I Wore: Black Cropped Wide Leg Trousers

IMG_6031

Throughout September, I’ve been loving wearing my black wide-legged trousers from Miss Selfridge. I’m pretty sure these were around the £25.00 mark which I thought was amazing for trousers of such good quality. They’re super comfy but also look smart so you’re basically winning at life when wearing them. You can wear them dressed-up (as pictured) or can throw on a cute cropped t-shirt and converse for a more day-to-day outfit. I definitely think these trousers were an investment piece that I can always come back to and rely on if I’m in need of a quick, super cute outfit. Yaaaaaaas to these.

What I Watched: RuPaul’s Drag Race (for the second time)

I’ve always been a big fan of Drag Race, having watched every season religiously on Netflix. However, I’ve recently rediscovered my love for the show and have been re-watching every single season. I’m currently on season 8. Some of my fave Queens from all of the seasons are Raja, Alaska, Alyssa Edwards, Adore, Pearl, Violet Chachki and Naomi Smalls.  It’s such an easy show to watch when I’m just chilling in my room or to have on in the background when I’m getting ready. Loooooove it.

What I Listened To: Dua Lipa / Hamilton

This past month I’ve become completely obsessed with Dua Lipa. Whenever I’m listening to music, it will be her album I’m playing. My faves are IDGAF and No Goodbyes. She’s also so gorg I actually cannot cope and her acoustic covers are INSANE.

From an MT perspective, I’ve been loving Hamilton. I know I’m very late to the party but I honestly couldn’t make myself love it when it was first around (and I tried so hard!!!). But NOW, I am actually too in love with the soundtrack. My fave songs at the moment have to be Satisfied, Burn and Say No To This.

What I Read: Colleen Hoover

During September, I went on two holidays to Portugal meaning I had loaaaaaads of time to read again (which made me very happy). I’ve read a few books by Colleen Hoover before and knew I enjoyed them so wanted to get my hands on some of her other novels. The two I particularly enjoyed were ‘Maybe Someday’ and ‘Confess’.

What I Used: Backstage Lashes

IMG_6311IMG_6313IMG_6312

This month I purchased some falsies from the brand ‘Backstage Lashes’ for the first time. I wasn’t too sure what to expect as the products retail at £6.00 a pair but I’d heard lots of good things. I bought the pairs Chelsea and Soho and I was very pleasantly surprised. Both lashes lasted the entire night on a night out without having to be re-glued and the band is thin so, not only are they easy to apply, they look like they could actually be your lashes. For £6.00 each I would 100% recommend this brand – I will most definitely be purchasing some more.

I hope you’ve all had a lovely September – mine has been pretty crazy as always!! I just want to apologise for the lack of posts recently (I’m the actual worst) – I’ve moved back to uni now so they should be coming more regularly again. I have some exciting Autumnal-themed posts planned so keep an eye out!!

The Cutest Town

Lifestyle

Earlier this week, my friend Matthew and I decided to have a cute day out and visit Godalming as we want to start exploring the surrounding areas of our university. It was a super nice day and beaut weather (for England anyway!). The town is really small but definitely worth the trip as there is an adorable high-street with some really lovely-looking pubs. If I go back on a nice day, I will definitely be planning to have a cute picnic sat by the canal with my friends.

Although there is not an awful lot to do there, it makes for a pretty change of scenery from our (also pretty) university campus. I would definitely recommend visiting if you’re looking for somewhere new to explore!

Matthew and I are planning on visiting some of the other cute little surrounding towns in Surrey so look out for more posts in the future!
