Winter Coat Wishlist

fashion

Autumn is fiiiiinally here which fills me with so much excitement. I’m all about the cosy jumpers, big scarves and heeled boots so I’m always more than ready when September rolls around. Each year, I tend to invest in a new coat that will last me through the (heartbreakingly) cold Winter we always have in Britain. To me, a coat is an investment piece – something you can shove to the back of your wardrobe in March, pull back out the following September and still be just as in love with it as when you first purchased it. That being said, I tend not to follow ‘trends’ when buying a new coat, rather I choose something I know is ‘timeless’ in style and colour – basically something that I won’t hate the following year because it’s ‘gone out of fashion’. This year, I’ve got my eye on a few coats but am still shopping around until I find the one (yes, I do realise this is coat shopping and not boyfriend hunting lol)…

Borg Cocoon Coat – Topshop

The first coat that caught my eye is this gorg pink number from Topshop. This coat retails at £79.00 so whilst it is relatively spenny, it’s likely to be made well and of a high quality due to it being from Topshop. I absolutely looooove the colour of this coat, as well as the faux fur effect. This looks super warm and cosy – perfect for Winter – and is different to any other jacket or coat that I own. I think the only drawback with this piece is that, due to the colour, you may have to consciously pair it with outfits, rather than just being able to throw it on, to avoid clashing colours.

Black Pelted Collarless Faux Fur Jacket – Missguided

Another coat which I’ve got my eye on is this (slightly more dramatic) one from Missguided. Firstly, I love that it is black as I feel you can never try and pair this with something and it look weird. I also love the style of this coat – it’s become clear I’m a faux fur fan – but the ‘dips’ in the fur patterning look so cool and give the coat another dimension. This retails at £75.00, so is similar to the Topshop coat. I feel like you have to be willing to pay around this price for any decent Winter coat. Also, with Missguided student discount helping a gal out, this piece should not be too much of a splurge.

Light Before Dark Oatmeal Hooded Teddy Jacket – Urban Outfitters

I just thought this jacket was so freaking cute. Shock, it’s furry but the reason I like this piece is because it’s not as ‘heavy’ as some of the other coats I’ve chosen. It would be perfect for Autumn evenings – like going to watch the fireworks – paired with a chunky scarf and skinny jeans. I also like the fact that it has a hood as – although it won’t be great in the rain – it can protect my curled hair from the wind!! This jacket costs £69.00 which honestly I don’t think is too bad for Urban.

Textured Curl Knit Coat – Zara

Screen Shot 2017-10-08 at 13.40.15.jpg

Zara is literally the love of my life when it comes to Autumn / Winter shopping. So, of course I happened to stumble across ANOTHER(!!!!) furry coat. I absolutely loooove the cream colour as it will contrast the darker outfits I tend to wear in the Winter. This coat looks practical and snug whilst also looking fashionable. For £79.99, this coat is one of the most expensive on my list but Zara prices do tend to be up there on the more expensive side of high-street fashion.

So those are my Winter coat picks! I’ve subconsciously gone for some very fluffy choices but I love all of them. I’m also thinking of doing a few more ‘wishlist-style’ blog posts so do let me know if that’s something you want to read more of.

What coats have you got your eye on this year?

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lipsticks: Worth The Hype?

beauty, GIRLS

IMG_6289

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that Rimmel have recently launched their own take on a liquid lipstick. The Stay Matte Lipsticks retail at £5.99 each in Superdrug. Having only recently really got into wearing a liquid lip, I thought I’d give these a go and see if they are worth the hype.

I picked up three different shades, ranging from VERY nude to a hot pink. The reason I did this was to see whether the formula was consistent when the colour was darker. The shades I picked up were 710 – Latte To Go, 110 – Blush and 820 – Heartbeat.

IMG_6292

When I swatched them in-store, I was pleasantly surprised by how creamy the formula felt and how nice the applicator was. However, once I got home and tried them on I started to question how much I liked them. When applied onto the lips, the lipsticks (particularly Blush) needed more than one layer, because they looked patchy with just a single coat. This was absolutely fine to begin with as the formula applied with what seemed to be quite a shiny, creamy finish. However, once the lipsticks had dried, they looked extremely patchy which left me loving life a little bit less.

The darkest shade, Heartbeat, which I was most excited about bled into and OVER my lipliner. Let me tell you now, this was not a cute look for me. Blush was the patchiest of the three (as you can probably tell from the swatch photo) whilst I ended up not loving the colour of Latte To Go (MAJOR foundation-lip vibes were occurring). I’m actually really sad that I didn’t love these products as much as I thought I would. I’d definitely recommend you try them as the formula may work better for you, but for me – a gal with relatively dry lips – they did not bring enough hydration.

I think I’ll be sticking to my Morphe Liquid Lipsticks (which are INSANE) in the future.

Bicester Village: Mini Haul

fashion, Lifestyle

I am sat here, yet again, wondering why I spend money like it’s going out of fashion; I have a serious problem. Visiting Bicester Village, on what was supposed to be a ‘let’s just see if there is anything nice and then leave without spending any money’ trip, I ended up making a few little purchases (absolutely no shock to anybody).

IMG_5729IMG_5730

First of all, I picked up two products from The Cosmetics Company Store. I decided to try the Clinique Superprimer (“colour corrects redness”). I picked this up as I’m yet to actually purchase a high-end primer and I’ve used Clinique skincare products before (and loved them). Also, I sometimes get red patchy areas on my face so wanted to check out if it actually cancels out any redness. This product retails at £22.00 but I managed to snag it for £15.50 (yaaaaas I know, go on gal)!!!!!

IMG_5732IMG_5733

Next, I was on the hunt for a lip gloss and the Bobbi Brown ones immediately caught my eye. I knew I wanted a light coloured gloss so ended up choosing the shade 11 – Almost Nude which is a gorg light nude. Another steal: the original price of this product was £19.50 and I paid £13.75. I am all about that discount!!!

IMG_5724IMG_5726

Finally was my last and favourite purchase. This was definitely not something I needed but there was no way on Earth I could have left the shop without this…I actually ended up buying myself another Kate Spade bag!!! It’s the most adorable little rucksack I have ever seen in my entire existence. I’ve never really been into the whole rucksack trend but I honestly now feel like my entire life has changed (maybe slightly dramatic). I literally CANNOT get over how cute the print is, the size is and just how freaking adorable the entire bag is. It’s the perfect size to fit my purse, phone and lipstick in. It’s official. I’m in love with a bag. Real love.

So those were all my buys from Bicester. I promise I did pretty well not buying anything else (I was very tempted!!!) so I’m going to give myself a little pat on the back for that. I do think that my bank can rest easy for a while as I’m putting myself on a shopping ban until further notice…(unsure how long this will last)…

Oxford Street Haul: Topshop / Zara / New Look etc

beauty, fashion, GIRLS, Uncategorized

Last week I went shopping on Oxford Street and picked up a few cute things I thought I would share with you. I loooove shopping in London purely due to the size of the shops being so much bigger than where I’m from meaning there are more clothes to choose from!! Also, Oxford Street tends to have the newest lines of clothing which is also super exciting and I may have spent a little too much (story of my life)…

‘You Make Me Wonder’ Pale Green Sweatshirt: £15 (Sale Price)

I picked up a mixture of sale and non-sale items in Topshop as, quite honestly, I couldn’t bring myself to brave the sale for too long. I actually HATE sale shopping as it is waaaay too stressful and messy and I never end up staying long enough to find anything I like. My favourite purchase from Topshop has to be the cute little pink denim skirt as it’s super summery and goes with pretty much aaaaanything. It is definitely something I’ll be wearing a lot and I’m even considering purchasing it in some other colours…just need to wait for payday!

ZARA

‘VENICE’ Lilac Sweatshirt: £9.99 (Sale Price)

‘NEW YORK WOMAN’ T-Shirt: £12.99 (ALSO I AM SO SORRY ABOUT HOW CREASED THIS IS I HAVE BEEN STAYING IN A HOTEL SO NO IRON 😦 )

Zara was another store with stressy sales, although I did manage to pick up this cute lilac cropped sweatshirt which I looooove. Although it’s not that summery, let’s be real in saying that we get about 5 hot days throughout the summer in England. So, I think this will come in more handy than I first thought. It also looks cute paired with the pink denim skirt from Topshop. I then picked up this oversized white t-shirt with FUZZY PINK embroidery (THE CUTEST THING EVER) saying ‘New York Woman’. Anyone who knows me will know that New York is my absolute favourite place in the world so I couldn’t resist picking this up even though the only size they had left was a large (as you can see in the picture above). However, I think this would look nice paired with some fishnets or even tied up with high-waisted jeans / shorts.

BERSHKA

I was on the hunt for a pair of black cigarette trousers to wear when I start my summer job next week. I found these in Bershka and loooove the fit; they have an elasticated waist so are super comfy to wear and feel really lightweight.

Black Cigarette Trousers: £20

NEW LOOK

I quickly popped into New Look to look at their jewellery as I love their chokers and was also on the hunt for some big hoops. I’ve seen a few of my friends wearing them recently and I think they look so nice and summery. I just picked up this plain pair of silver hoops and I’m really happy with how they look!! (Although I’m still trying to convince myself that I’m cool enough to pull them off).

IMG_4781

Silver Hoop Earrings: £1.99

That is everything I bought whilst shopping on Oxford Street. I’m really happy with the pieces that I picked up and can’t wait to start wearing them throughout summer…I hope I’ve inspired you to spend some money! Keep an eye out for a ‘June Faves’ post that is coming early next week!!

Mini Collective Spring Haul

beauty, Books, GIRLS, Lifestyle

IMG_3436

Recently, I’ve been making a few little (probably unnecessary) purchases for the Spring season so I thought I’d share them!

Pink Denim Jacket – Topshop £49.00

IMG_3442IMG_3443IMG_3439

My favourite purchase has to be this adooooorable pink denim jacket from Topshop. The colour is a pastel pink so it’s perfect for Spring and adds a pop of colour to the generally quite boring, all-black outfits I tend to lean towards. The jacket is complete with rips on the elbows which I LOVE as -much to my parents’ dismay- I am a big fan of ripped clothing. I bought this jacket in a size 12 petite as I wanted it to be quite oversized and am happy with how it turned out! This is definitely an investment piece as the quality is amazing and I own another Topshop denim jacket which has worn really well.

Floral Black Heels – Topshop £34

IMG_3441Another Topshop purchase (somebody stop me please!!!). These heels are so cute and, shockingly, super comfy. I’ve worn these now on numerous nights out and my feet don’t hurt anywhere near as badly as they do when I wear other shoes. The design is pretty, current and the platform heel allows for a good amount of added height (which is what I need!!) without being uncomfortable. I’d definitely recommend getting your hands on these or any similar if you can!

A Quiet Kind of Thunder / The One Memory of Flora Banks – Amazon

IMG_3438I decided to treat myself to two new books (which makes me super excited!!!!) and chose A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard and The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr. Both books were in my recommended section on Amazon and (I can’t lie) the pretty front covers helped sway my vote. I haven’t started reading either of them yet but I’ll make sure to let you know if they are any good in a later post!

Eyelure Falsies £5.35

IMG_3437IMG_3448I needed some new false lashes for when I go back to uni (after a month of self-admittedly bossing through too many Netflix shows) so decided to pick some up from Eyelure. I love the Eyelure lashes as the adhesive they come with is soooo good; I literally  never have to check if my lashes are coming off on a night out!! I wanted to get another pair of the 153’s as they are my go-to for a night out (seen pictured below) and then bought some more natural looking ones (027’s) to try during the day time.

Nivea Post Shave Balm

IMG_3444I thought it was about time I purchased the Nivea Post Shave Balm after I’ve heard so many raving reviews about it. I’ve tried it a few times and I have to say, I have noticed a difference in my skin makeup. I’m yet to try it on a night out so I’ll let you know how I get on with it and if it helps my makeup stay on!

V05 Hair Products (Sleek Blow-Dry Spray £4.00 / Sea Salt Spray £4.00)

IMG_3445IMG_3447IMG_3446I wanted to try some new hair products so picked these two bottles up. The sleek blow-dry spray leaves my hair looking super healthy and shiny; it helps protect the ends of my hair against the heat of the hairdryer and straighteners. I tend to use the sea salt spray after I’ve curled my hair to make the curls look slightly more natural and ‘beachy’. It also helps to hold my hair in place so there is no need for hairspray (which I hate the feel of in my hair).

Bralettes – Primark £8.00 / £5.00

IMG_3440I’ve been looking for some cute bralettes for so long (as I love the mesh t-shirt/bralette look) and Primark has been my saviour. Not only are these bralettes super pretty, they’re inexpensive which is a win-win for everybody. I’m now on the hunt for a mesh t-shirt I can wear with these!

I hope this has inspired some of you to get spending (and I’m sorry if it has) !!!
