Learning To Love The Frizz: My Hair Care Routine

beauty

tempImageForSave

Ever since I can remember I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my hair. Naturally, I have been *blessed* with super curly, thick hair (as you can see above – forgive me for the snapchat filter). This may come as a complete shock to a lot of my friends reading this post as I never ever go out with my hair in its natural state (state being the key word here). The only time I will ever free the wild mess is when I’m on holiday as there is no point in keeping on top of hair-care when I’m entering the pool in an extremely ladylike fashion (catapulting) every 5 minutes. All this being said, I tend to use heat on my hair on a regular basis which I knoooow is a very bad thing to do but I also use a lot of heat-protecting products to counteract this. I thought I’d share what I’ve learnt over the years about how to manage the frizz whilst still keeping it healthy…

The Washing Process…

IMG_8088

I tend to wash my hair 2-3 times a week depending on how well it’s been trained during a particular period of time. A brand that I absolutely swear by in terms of hair-care is Aussie. You will rarely see me using any other shampoo or conditioner at all. As well as this, one of my all-time fave products to use on my hair is the Aussie ‘3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor’. I tend to apply this twice a week after conditioning my hair. I leave the product on for around 3 minutes before washing it out. Honestly, I promise you, your hair will never feel softer…ever. This trio of products is heaaaaaven.

The Drying Process…

IMG_8090

Before I dry my hair, I always apply the Wella Professionals Luminous Smoothening Oil. I’ll squirt 3 large drops into my hands before running the product through my hair with my fingers. I let this settle for around 2 minutes before brushing through to eliminate any excess product. For anyone with curly or frizzy hair, this product is an absolute godsend as it makes your hair smooth and silky after straightening. So much so, that it looks as if your hair is naturally straight and gives no indication that you’ve spent half an hour battling with your GHDs. Before I finally start to dry to my hair, I’ll spray it with the VO5 Sleek Blow-Dry Heat Protect spray which helps to keep the ends of my hair healthy whilst also increasing the shine.

From there, I’ll go on to dry my hair (on the lowest heat) before straightening and I’m good to go. This year, however, I’m making it my mission to try and embrace my natural frizz a little bit more. All of my friends tell me they’d kill to have hair like mine but most days, I would kill to have their naturally straight or wavy hair as it seems to be a lot less work and I am a lazy gal at times. But, I guess the grass is always greener!

What are your fave hair-care products? Do you have the daily struggles of dealing with curly hair?

A Little Catch Up

Lifestyle

I am the absolute worst for going AWOL and hibernating when I’m working on a particular project, completing ignoring everything else around me. What I mean by this is that I have been sat, staring at my laptop screen, for up to 8 hours a day over the past two weeks, attempting to type some words onto a page that will enable me to pass my degree…yep, you’ve got it…the dreaded deadline season. If I’m being completely honest, the last thing I wanted to do after an entire day of writing was to write some more…hence, my little blogging break. I thought, now that I’m assignment-free, it would be cute to catch up and fill you guys in on what I’ve been doing and how I’ve been (just about) surviving.

What I’ve Been Doing

In all honesty, the new year has seen many days of me wrapped up in my duvet, binge-watching Grey’s Anatomy and snacking excessively. I’ve been extremely lacking in productivity but have actually really enjoyed having some chilled time-off after what was an extremely emotionally turbulent semester at university. I’ve spent time catching up with my home-girls (not trying to sound cool, just unsure what to label my group of friends from home lol) which has been super nice. They know I’m one of the worst people when it comes to replying to group chat messages (orrrrr even texts that have been sent directly to me) but whenever I’m home it is as if nothing has changed. We celebrated my friend Harriet’s 20th birthday with food (yes) and cocktails (YES) which was a very cute night. I was also able to be reunited with my lovely friend Charl who abandoned me 3 years ago to live in Devon (still not ok!!!!) which again really was the best.

How I’ve Been Feeling

I’ve been feeling goooood. Life is currently at that stage where I have nothing going on for the next week so I can just chill, relax and spend time with my family before I start second semester. This break really has been needed (I mean…really needed). I was struggling a lot at uni before the Christmas break – I felt as if someone was standing with a gun pointed at me, but instead of bullets they were shooting big, SCARY, adult decisions at me that needed to be made quickly. Now, I am a pretty good decision-maker – if I may say so myself – but I like to have a lot of time to process what the consequences of each particular decision may be as change scares the ever-loving shit out of me (which you’ll know if you’ve read any of my previous lifestyle-y posts). So, when I was faced with 3 essays, 2 presentations, an 8-minute solo performance, auditions, co-directing a full-scale musical theatre showcase, rehearsals, homesickness, budgeting, meetings, housing decisions, placement decisions, course decisions, LIFE DECISIONS…yeah, my brain pretty much said no thanks Georgia, not today. I’m pretty sure (and this is going to be 100% a self-diagnosis) that I was – and potentially am still – having a quarter-life crisis (is this a thing????? Probs not). I’m turning 20 this year and I found myself thinking ‘What am I doiNGGG?!?!!?’ I was feeling unhappy more than I was feeling happy which has never happened to me before. This impacted everything I was doing: I didn’t want to go out with my friends but then I would be sad that I didn’t go out with my friends, I wanted to be at home all the time, I wasn’t enjoying my lectures, everything was just a little bit crazy. Now I’ve had time to step away from the situation I honestly think I was just putting too much pressure on myself – so much so, that I was sucking the enjoyment out of everything I normally enjoyed doing. Hence, the hibernation station I’ve had going on this holiday. Although I’m not jumping for joy at the prospect of returning to uni next week (however I am BLOODY EXCITED to see all my little angels aka friends) I feel a lot better about it than I did pre-holiday.

What I’ve Been Loving

Whilst I’ve been in my temporary state of hiding, I’ve had the time to try a few new products / watch new shows / listen to new music. With the lack of my December Faves, I have a few new things that I’ve been loving over the past 6 weeks or so.

IMG_7825

One of which being these No. 141 lashes from Eyelure. Whilst I do like Eyelure lashes, I tend to gravitate more towards Unicorn or Backstage Lashes as I find the quality tends to be slightly better meaning I can get more than one use out of them. However, over the mad sale period, these lashes were reduced to half price (I think I paid around £3.00 for them) and I liked their wispy vibes. I have quite small features so tend to favour a pair of lashes that fan out towards the end, compared to the rounded-look and this pair does exactly that. I have actually ended up being really pleased with this little purchase. I’ve managed to wear this pair twice already as they aren’t overly dramatic but also finish off a makeup look well.

The next thing I’ve been loving is Grey’s Anatomy (as mentioned above). Honestly, it’s embarrassing how quickly I’ve arrived at Season 8 Episode 10 but I really freaking love it. I love all of the characters and the plot-lines are so sad but so bloody good at the same time. I’m completely in love with Patrick Dempsey, Eric Dane and Jesse Williams whilst identifying on a scary level with Cristina. I don’t really know what I’m going to do once I’ve finished all 13 seasons. I’m worried it will be similar to my post-PLL and Gossip Girl phases where I felt very lost for around 3 days after the finales. But for now, it’s constantly on.

I’ve also been loving The Greatest Showman soundtrack (and the film, obvs). I’ve had the soundtrack on repeat ever since Rewrite The Stars was first released on Spotify. If you know me, you’ll know I’ve been planning my wedding to Zac Efron ever since HSM came out so of course I’m going to love anything he does. Add this to the fact that the songs were written and composed by Pasek and Paul (my FAV musical theatre songwriters) and you have a winning combo. My favourite songs have to be The Greatest Show, The Other Side, This Is Me and Rewrite The Stars. Yes yes yes yes.

So that brings us pretty much up to speed. It’s been a chilled few weeks but they were definitely deserved and I now feel recharged and ready to get back into the real world. I promise I’ll start sticking to a blogging schedule once I sort my life out (lol).

Lots of love,

Skincare Bits & Bobs I’ve Been Lovin’

beauty

I’ve never had a huge, sworn-by skincare routine. In all honesty, this time last year I was a ‘moisturise-and-go’ type of gal. I’ve always had extremely dry skin, ever since I can remember, which, combined with lucky genetics (thank you very much, mom and dad) means I rarely have break-outs or suffer from spots. That being said, I’d never felt the need to invest in skincare products that tend to be rather pricey. Since getting into blogging, I’ve found myself reading more and more reviews on things I’ve wanted to try out for myself. I now feel as if I’ve been around the skincare block a few times, having tried and tested products personally that I now want to share with you. So here a few skincare bits and bobs that I’ve been lovin’…

IMG_7820

Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream – £36.00

Ahhh, Clarins. I know, I know, the price is almost painful, especially on a student budget. What I have discovered though is that with skincare, you get what you pay for. I’ve been using this moisturiser for around a month now and there has been a noticeable change in my skin – it has made my problem-patches of dry skin a lot smaller. The consistency is relatively thick which (unfortunately and painfully) means a little product does not go a long way. You may even have to re-scoop up to 3 times whilst applying this to your face. When I’m not crying over how much I’ll have to re-spend on this moisturiser, I’m absolutely loving it. Although it is recommended for normal to combination skin types, I’d definitely vouch for those with dry skin also.

Mario Badescu Skincare Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater – £11.00

I think I’m having a little bit of a love affair with this facial spray. Not only does it smell amazing, it’s freaking PINK!! I know this was a cult fave for bloggers a few months ago and I, unashamedly, jumped on the bandwagon. I use this spray religiously every single day, regardless of whether I’m wearing makeup or not. I’ll spray this first thing in the morning to hydrate my skin and then again, just after I’ve applied any powder products to my face (I do this to avoid the dreaded ‘cakey’ look). The large bottle only costs £11 which I think is fab, considering it does the same job as sprays such as Mac Fix + which retails at £18.00. Again, a sure recommendation for any skin type!

Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil – £9.20 (Travel-Sized)

Oh my god. Anyone and everyone who suffers with dry skin needs to get online and order this product. Right. Now. A little trick I like to use when trying out new products, be it skincare or makeup, is buying the travel-sized minis to begin with. That way, you’re paying a laaaaat less money for a product that you might actually hate a little bit. Also, I’ve found that cleansing oils last a long old while as you don’t actually apply a lot of product to your face every day. This oil does exactly what it claims to: it feels super nourishing on the skin and leaves my face smooth, soft and full of moisture. It eliminates my dry patches almost immediately. I use this product around 3 times a week after removing my makeup and toning my face. Another amazing little find.

These products have taken a firm place in my skincare routine, which is growing slowly as I find even more products that work well for me. I’m hoping soon to share a more detailed post but I want to be 100% sure that I’m in love with the products before I recommend them!

What are your skincare must-haves?

What I Got For Christmas 2017

beauty, Lifestyle

IMG_2548

I’m going to start with the typical, blogger opening you’ve probably already read at least 20 times, but I can’t believe we’re almost at the end of 2017. Honestly, for me, this year has flown by. I’m a good-way into my second year at university (which means scary life decisions are looming) and I’m almost a third of the way through my final year as a teen (equally as scary!!). I just want to quickly apologise for my absolute failure of an attempt at doing ‘Blogmas’ – I had every good intention but the practicality of uni deadlines and the general life rush that occurs during the lead up to Christmas defeated me. I’m super sad because I had some really cute posts planned, but I guess that’ll give me a reason to attempt it again next year! Thankfully, life has calmed down a little bit now which means I’m back to blogging – I have a few posts planned for the next few weeks that are New Year-related so I hope you enjoy reading those. For now, I’d love to share with you a few of the bits I received for Christmas this year.

Sephora Favorites ‘Give Me Some Nude Lip’ – Sephora

IMG_0879IMG_1306

If you read my Christmas Wishlist post, you’ll know that this Sephora gift set was something I had my eye on. My parents went to New York just before Christmas so I was super excited at the prospect of getting a few makeup bits that are harder to get your hands on the in the UK. I think these sets are a really good way of testing out new brands before you pay full price for a product you may not really like. All of these lip products are gorgeous but my favourite (surprisingly for me) is the Ciaté London Liquid Velvet Lipstick.

Sephora Favorites ‘Glow For It’ – Sephora

IMG_4772IMG_4351

I am so bloody excited about this set. Highlighters are up there with my favourite category of makeup products and I’ve been wanting to try some of these brands for the longest time. I’ve heard nothing but good things about BECCA highlighters and I’ve always wanted to try the Cover FX drops. On Christmas day, I combined both of them which left me with the most blinding highlight that I was LIVING for. I’m super excited to try out the rest of these products.

MAC Snowball Pigment and Glitter Kit – MAC Cosmetics

IMG_4302

Again, I’m super excited to have received this cute little MAC set. I’ve never tried their pigments before but I used the champagne-y colour yesterday and I was very happy with it. I’m excited to use the white sparkly pigment soon and am planning to use the gold glitter for New Year’s Eve. These pots should last me a little while as you only need to use the tiniest amount so I think they’re pretty good value. I know MAC have 10% off most products today in the Boxing Day Sales so it would definitely be worth trying to get your hands on this!! They also do a ‘Pink’ version which, as the name suggests, has more pink-y coloured pigments and glitters. I went with the ‘Gold’ set as I tend to wear oranges, browns and burgundys on my eyes.

Too Faced ‘Just Peachy Mattes’ Palette – Sephora

I’ve been obsessed with this palette ever since it dropped with the rest of the ‘Peaches and Cream’ range by Too Faced. Unbelievably, I’ve never tried Too Faced shadows before so I was really excited to receive this. The colours are right up my street – I could happily just use this palette forever. I used this palette on Christmas Day and was really pleased with the pigmentation and how easily the shadows blend. If you want me to recreate the look for a blog post (see below) let me know – I was pretty pleased with how it turned out!

IMG_7666

Grey and Black Nike Trainers – Nike

IMG_5090IMG_3262

These trainers are actually one of my favourite prezzies, as they were a complete surprise. I love the colours as they will literally go with any outfit and they’ve come into my life at the perfect ‘January gym-going’ time. They’re super comfy as they are meant for running, although I will probably just be wearing them on the day-to-day. I will definitely be getting a lot of use out of these as I pretty much live in trainers at both university and home. My Mom did well here!!

Striped Calvin Set – Calvin Klein

IMG_0595

If you know me, you’ll know I’m obsessed with Calvins. They’re just so comfy and I love the look of them, so I was really happy to get this set. I’ve never actually seen this pattern before and I fricking LOVE it. I’m super excited to add this set to my growing collection.

Burgundy Kate Spade Rucksack & Purse – Kate Spade NY

I’m still a little bit in shock about these two presents as I wasn’t expecting them at all. Recently, I’ve been obsessed with rucksacks and if you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know I have a major soft-spot for anything Kate Spade. I’m absolutely in love with the colour of this bag and purse – it’s perfect for the Winter months. Also, I’ve been needing a new purse as my Ted Baker one has been used to death. So yay!!! Absolutely in love.

Those are a few of the lovely presents I received this year. What did you get?

I hope you had a great Christmas!

Lots of love,

BLOGMAS DAY 3: The Christmas Tag

Lifestyle

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Actually, no. I know this is quite a common tradition among my friends but my family tend to save everything until Christmas day. My brothers and I are allowed to open one present before everyone else wakes up on Christmas day so we’d always try and feel for a DVD so it would pass the time.

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?

This isn’t going to sound exciting to anyone else in the slightest but I loooove looking through the Radio Times and circling all of the Christmas films I want to watch during the lead up to Christmas.

Also, my younger brothers and I always have a sleepover on Christmas Eve and watch a festive film. We’re definitely too old now to justify how excited we get over Christmas.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Sadly, it’s fake. We used to always go and buy a real tree but there were a few years where our tree kept dying before we’d actually reached Christmas. So, we purchased a fake tree. It still looks pretty real but we don’t get the nice festive smell, sadly.

What is your favourite Christmas film?

It’s a definite toss-up between Nativity and Love Actually. I’ll be posting my Top 5 Christmas films very soon…

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

At my house with my immediate family and my grandparents.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

100% ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ by Shakin’ Stevens.

What is your all-time favourite holiday food?

Hmmm…I’d have to say either yule logs or, if we’re talking about christmas dinner, it would HAVE to be pigs in blankets.

Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

Honestly, giving. I love when you know you’ve got someone a present that they’re going to love. But I can’t lie, I don’t hate receiving presents either…

What is your favourite thing about Christmas?

Definitely the build-up – I love how excited everybody gets.

When do you start getting excited for Christmas?

Truthful answer: Some time in mid-November.

Answer I give to people: 1st December.

What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?

Hmm…I had to think long and hard about this. I think I would have to go with my first ever laptop that I received when I was around 9 or 10. It was a pink Dell (yes, I was that girl) but it was my most prized possession for the longest time.

As a kid, did a sibling ever receive a present that you wished was for you?

YES. There is only a year between my older brother and me and he would always end up getting CDs or DVDs that I asked for and, at the time, it seemed like the world’s greatest injustice to 7-year-old me.

Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I always make resolutions and try to stick to them. Keep your eyes peeled for a resolution-based blog post coming in the next few weeks…

What’s the best part about Christmas for you?

Christmas dinner is probably what I look forward to the most and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Also, since I’ve been at university I love coming home and spending time with my family.

So, that’s my take on the Christmas Tag! I hope you enjoyed reading it…what’s your favourite thing about Christmas?

Lots of love,

BLOGMAS DAY 2: What’s On My Christmas List 2017

beauty, Lifestyle

This year, I struggled to think about things I really wanted to ask for for Christmas. However, that mindset quickly shifted once I started scouring Urban / Topshop and Beauty Bay (shock). Also, my parents are going to New York in December so the option of Sephora has made a massive impact to what I’ve ended up asking for. I’m going to share with you a few of the things that have caught my eye…

Just Peachy Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette – Too Faced

Screen Shot 2017-12-01 at 23.20.56Screen Shot 2017-12-01 at 23.21.11

Originally, I had my eye on the ABH Prism palette but then I reconsidered as Too Faced is a lot harder to get in the UK than Anastasia. Also, I’ve never tried TF shadows before and I’ve heard amaaaazing things so this palette is definitely something I’m very excited about. It’s part of the Peaches and Cream collection and the colours are just to die for. If I could design a colour scheme for an eyeshadow palette, it would be exactly this. I pretty much only wear oranges and pinky-reds on my eyes so if I was lucky enough to receive this, it would be very loved.

White Classic Leather Reeboks – Reebok

Screen Shot 2017-12-01 at 23.22.09

If you know me, you’ll know I’m a trainer-obsessor. I honestly just think you can never have enough trainers. I wear them constantly, in the day / to rehearsals / on a night out so I like having a choice of styles and colours that I can match with different outfits. Currently, the only white trainers I have are my converse and, whilst I love them, I want something that looks a little bit more ‘trainer-y’ (definitely just made up a word there). That’s when I came across these Reeboks. I have two other pairs of Reeboks and they are honestly the comfiest trainers that I own so I thought these white leather ones would be a cute little addition to my collection.

The Sun and Her Flowers – Rupi Kaur

Again, if you know me, you’ll know I love poetry – in particular, Rupi Kaur’s Milk and Honey. There is something about the way Kaur writes that is so captivating and inspiring. She has recently released her second poetry book, ‘The Sun and Her Flowers’ and I would love to read it. If I don’t receive this for Christmas, I’ll most definitely be making a little purchase myself.

Green Corduroy Pinafore – Urban Outfitters

Honestly, I think this is quite possibly one of the cutest clothing items I’ve ever seen. I love wearing little pinafore dresses, with ankle boots and tights and I absolutely loooove this one from Urban. Firstly, I love the colour as green tends to go quite nicely with my colouring. Aside from this, I’m a bloody sucker for anything corduroy – I can’t even explain it, I just think it’s so cute!! Obviously, being from Urban Outfitters, this dress is on the rather spenny side, so what better than to whack it on the old Christmas list?

Give Me Some Nude Lip – Sephora

Screen Shot 2017-12-02 at 09.39.09Screen Shot 2017-12-02 at 09.39.20

This year, the Sephora holiday gift sets have been insaaaaane, in my opinion. I think it’s such a good idea to group a few cult items together and sell them at a discounted ‘gift set’ price. One in particular that caught my eye is the ‘Give Me Some Nude Lip’ which essentially does give you a variety of nude lipsticks from different brands. If you’ve read my blog posts before, you’ll know I’m a massive nude-lip wearer and rarely stray from this comfort zone. So, I would be super excited trying brands, such as ‘Buxom’, that I haven’t before. It’s definitely true that a girl can never have too many nude lipsticks…

So those are a few of the things that are on my Christmas list this year! I hope you like my picks. What have you asked for?

Lots of love,

BLOGMAS DAY 1: November Faves

beauty, Lifestyle

What I Wore: Velvet Purple Culottes / Faded Black Mom Jeans

This month I have two fashion favourites that I couldn’t decide between. The first are these GORGEOUS velvet culottes from Zara – to add to my ever-growing collection. I love culottes as I feel you can either dress them up and wear them for a night out or pair them with a cropped t-shirt and converse and you’re good to go for the day. I think they’re super festive and I know I’ll being getting a lot of wear out of them. Also, they retail for £19.99 in Zara which I think is amazing value!!

Another Zara purchase I’ve been living in throughout November has to be these black Mom jeans. I’ve ALWAYS been looking for the perfect pair of Mom jeans but I’ve never found any that look right. Because I’m so small, a lot of them swamp me and make me look shapeless but I think I have finally found what I’ve been searching for!! I paid around £30.00 for these jeans (don’t quote me) which I think is pretty reasonable. As you can see, I’ve teamed them with this cute D-ring striped belt from Missguided and a black cropped t-shirt from PLT.

What I Watched: Stranger Things

Although slightly predictable, Stranger Things was my obsession throughout early November. Granted, I finished the season over a two-day period but it still counts as being a November fave. I’d been waiting (for what felt like FOREVER) for season 2 to come out as I fell in love with the show from the very first episode. There is something so charming about each of the amazingly talented child actors that makes the slightly weird and creepy show so relatable. Season 2 did not disappoint plot-wise and I literally cannot wait for the third!!

What I Listened To: The Wedding Singer

This month has been filled with musical theatre for me, in relation to what I’ve been listening to. As I’ve mentioned, I directed a show which included a variety of songs from different musicals however I also found out that I’ll be playing the role of Julia in my university’s production of ‘The Wedding Singer’ in 2018. So, naturally, I’ve had the soundtrack on repeat. The music is super feel-good and I’m really excited to start rehearsals next week!! My favourite songs are ‘It’s Your Wedding Day’, ‘Not That Kind Of Thing’ and ‘All About The Green’.

What I Used: Soph X Makeup Revolution Highlighter Palette

IMG_6660IMG_6661

I’m not going to ramble on about this palette for too long as I’ve done a full-length review that you can read here. This has been my go-to product throughout November as pretty much all of the shades are (thankfully!!!) pale enough for me to wear so I can match my highlight to my eyeshadow – which makes me more excited than it probably should…

I’d definitely recommend getting your hands on this gorgeous palette if you can, it’s more than worth the £8.00 it retails for.

What I Did:

I hope your November has been amazing!!

A Little Announcement…

Lifestyle

Hello to all my lovely readers,

As you know, recently my posts have been pretty much non-existent. I used to be in the routine of uploading at least once a week but since returning to uni this semester, I’ve really struggled to balance blogging with my workload. I’ve just finished directing a show which took a looooot out of me but was super rewarding at the same time.

All that being said, I want to get back to blogging frequently so I have a little announcement to make…

I’M DOING BLOGMAS!!!!!!

I will be posting festive-themed posts EVERY SINGLE DAY throughout all of December. This is going to be such a huge challenge for me, both time and content-wise as I never want to put anything up on my blog that I’m not 100% happy with. However, I’m going to try my very best to make this happen and I’m SUPER freaking excited to do it.

I really, really hope you guys enjoy reading!!

Soph X Makeup Revolution Highlighter Palette: Is it worth the hype?

beauty, Uncategorized

IMG_6658img_6659.jpg

If you’re a drugstore junkie, you’ll know that Youtuber ‘Sophdoesnails’ has recently collaborated with Makeup Revolution to bring out an eyeshadow palette and a highlighter palette. The other day I popped into my local Superdrug, saw the pretty display and OF COURSE had to buy something. I couldn’t bring myself to buy the eyeshadow palette as I already have way too many (especially with similar colours in) so instead I picked up the one filled with gorg-looking highlighters. I purchased this palette for £8.00 which I think is so reasonable, considering you get 8 shades. If you don’t want to go in-store, the palette can also be found on the Superdrug website.

IMG_6661IMG_6660

What I like most about this palette is the shade range. There is a highlighter with pretty much every undertone you could realistically use on a daily basis. My favourite shades are the top left, the top right and the pink/purple shade on the bottom row. The colours actually swatch a little lighter than they appear in the pan (as you can see below). Although I still couldn’t wear some of the darker shades on my face, I would totally use them for eyeshadow.

IMG_6662

The formula is pretty powdery, in the sense that they are not ‘wet’ highlighters. This being said, they don’t appear cakey on the face. I tend to mix two different colours so always run the risk of it looking like there is powder on my face but they blend super nicely into my base make-up. I definitely think this product was worth buying, it has become my new staple when it comes to highlighting.

The only slightly annoying thing is that, because of the price, the product packaging has obviously been cheaply made. I’ve had this palette for around 3 weeks and taken great care of it, however the clasp used to open and close the palette is already starting to become loose (which is what has happened to my other Makeup Revolution products). That being said, the actual product inside is amazing so don’t let that put you off purchasing your own!!

Again, just a quick apology. I know my posts have been very few and far between but I’ve been SUPER busy with general life at the moment. I promise I have a very exciting announcement coming soon so hopefully you’ll be looking forward to that!

Let me know if you’ve tried this palette and what your thoughts were.

What I Wore: Cropped Yellow Jumper with Bell Sleeves

I purchased this little Autumnal number from Topshop at the very end of September and it’s become a staple in my ‘it’s suddenly really cold now’ wardrobe. This jumper cost £29 (sans student discount) which I think is relatively reasonable for Topshop prices. It’s super soft and is made really well so you definitely get what you pay for. I’ve never owned any clothes this colour before but when I saw this jumper on the model I knew I had to try it on. I feel like it goes really well with an all-black outfit as it adds a pop of colour. I’ll deffo be taking another trip to Topshop soon to purchase some more Winter jumpers.

What I Watched: Confession Tapes

Confession Tapes was definitely my Netflix addiction during October. If you’ve read any of my Monthly Faves before, you’ll know I’m a big fan of crime dramas and documentaries so when I saw ‘Confession Tapes’ come onto Netflix, I was super excited. Essentially, each episode focuses on a different case in which a suspect is forced into making a confession for a crime they may not have committed. The show documents the history of the crime, followed by the police’s process to convicting a suspect. It’s so interesting – each episode had my friend Lucy and I hooked. If anything, I wanted the series to be longer as there were only 8 episodes but I’m hoping Netflix bring out some more in the near future. I’d definitely recommend this if you haven’t seen it!!

What I Listened To: Lewis Capaldi / Havana / 21 Chump Street

Lewis Capaldi honestly has one of my favourite voices ever. I love his songs and have them on constant repeat. He’s only released 4 songs so far so I’m hoping for an album soon. If I had to pick my actual song of the month though, it would have to be Havana by Camila Cabello.

MT-wise, I’ve been obsessing over 21 Chump Street, a mini-musical written by Lin Manuel Miranda. If you read my September Faves, you’ll know that last month I was loving Hamilton (and still am) but then I discovered 21 Chump Street. The music is trademark Lin, which is why I love it. My fave song has to be, “What The Heck I Gotta Do”.

What I Used: Nivea Express Hydration Primer

The change of the seasons sadly means the reoccurrence of my dry skin, especially on my face. This month I’ve been using the Nivea Express Hydration Primer which I picked up from Superdrug for only £2.39 (like, what!??!!!). The name honestly does not lie – this primer is the most hydrating I’ve ever tried. It’s a very thin, wet consistency and applies a clear sheen to the face. It helps my foundation sit nicely, avoiding the cling to any dry patches (which nobody wants). I’d 100000% recommend this product for anyone who has normal to dry skin.

I hope you’ve had an amazing October!! I’m super excited for November because it means I can start counting down to Christmas and no-one can be frustrated by it hahaha. I just quickly want to apologise for the inconsistency in blog posts; moving back to university has been so much busier and more stressful than I thought it would be so unfortunately my little blog had to take a back-seat for a couple of weeks. However, I’ve got some super exciting posts planned so hopefully you will enjoy those!!
