BLOGMAS DAY 4: Top Five Festive Films

Faves, Lifestyle

For me, a huge part of Christmas is being snuggled up watching festive films with my family and friends. I will literally watch anything Christmas related that is on TV – films especially – so I have a wide range of them that I love to watch. However, I thought it would be cute to try and compile a list of my top five festive picks for you – I hope you enjoy…

 Mickey’s Twice Upon A Christmas

At number 5, I had to include a childhood favourite. My Nan used to have Mickey’s Twice Upon A Christmas on video (yes, video) and each year, my brothers and I would sit and watch it on repeat throughout the Christmas period. The film is split into various different festive-themed storylines focusing on Mickey Mouse and all of his friends. Honestly, I still watch the film every year as it brings back cute memories of my childhood and makes me feel super nostalgic – also, it’s a pretty decent film!!

 Arthur Christmas

I feel like there is nothing better than a family-friendly animated film at Christmas. As Christmas films go, Arthur Christmas is pretty new compared to some of my other classic faves. However, this film is arguably the most ‘Christmassy’ of my list. It focuses on Arthur, Santa’s youngest son, as he journeys to deliver presents to the singular child that has been forgotten one year. This film is so feel-good and in an amazing turn of events IS NOW ON NETFLIX!!!!! I love watching it with my little brothers, snuggled up on the sofa with cosy blankets and a huge mug of hot chocolate – it really gets me into the festive spirit.

The Holiday

An absolute rom-com festive classic. This film makes me feel so warm and Christmassy…it may have something to do with my emotional love affair with Jude Law. I absolutely adore the plot-line (an English woman and an American woman switch houses over the Christmas period and both fall in love) and could watch this film twice in the same day. All four of the leads are incredible – this really is a film that will make you laugh and cry.

 Nativity

When this film first came out, I immediately knew I was going to love it. There is something so simple about the plot – essentially a slightly grumpy teacher is trying to put on a nativity show – yet it works perfectly. The children are adorable and Martin Freeman is hilarious. I think it’s the authenticity and relatable nature of this film that really makes it so heart-warming. I unashamedly know all of the words to all of the songs and sing them loud and proud whenever I’m watching. This is a definite multiple watch during the festive season!!

 Love Actually

Aaaaaand here it is: my all-time favourite festive film is…LOVE ACTUALLY!! I honestly love every single thing about this movie; from the actors to the all of the interwoven plot lines. I’m totally in love with Hugh Grant as the Prime Minister and also am obsessed with the gospel choir at Keira Knightly’s wedding. This is such a feel-good modern classic and I watch it around 20 times each year – I can pretty much quote it word for word now!!

So those are my top festive film picks – did any of yours make the list? Or did I miss off your favourite?

Lots of love,

  1. Arthur Christmas and Nativity are probably two of my favourite feel-good lazy day movies. And you can never beat Love Actually, such a classic Christmas film!
