What I’m Reading: August

Books, Lifestyle

When I was in London this week, I visited the Covent Garden Waterstones (one of my favourite places) and typically ended up purchasing a few new books. I’ve been feeling uninspired recently by the same old YA romance novels as they all seem to be following similar structures and patters, the more I read. So, I was looking to make some purchases that would rejuvenate the excitement that reading used to bring me.

The first book I picked up was One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus. Whilst this was sectioned with the rest of the YA fiction, the blurb intrigued me, appearing slightly more mystery-based than romance. I’ve actually already finished reading this particular novel and I have to say, I loved it. I devoured the entire thing on the train journey home. Let me know if you would like a more in-depth review!

Next, I picked up Two by Two – the newest release from Nicholas Sparks. I am a huge Sparks fan and have been ever since I read The Last Song aged 13. Any time he writes a new novel, I am sure to pre-order it so I’m super excited to get reading this one.

I love a good book recommendation, which is how I came to purchase The Girls by Emma Cline. Recently, I have seen this book EVERYWHERE; everyone seems to be talking about it. So, of course I had to buy it to see what all the fuss is about!

Finally, I chose Cecelia Ahern’s Lyrebird as again, the blurb intrigued me. I’ve read a few other of Ahern’s books and enjoyed those so I’m hoping I’ll feel the same with Lyrebird. Also, I cannot lie, the pretty front cover played a pretty large part in my decision!!

So, these are the books I’ll be reading throughout August. Let me know if you have read any of them (no spoilers though!!) and what you thought.
